2020 has been a challenge for everyone and the challenges presented have been different for everyone. At Room to Learn, I have had to make adjustments - no raveling to the Monastery for retreats limited class sizes due to social distancing, etc. That is why the decision was made to expand the classroom. I traded spaces with my husband and have spent the last 3 months getting ready to move from 600 square feet to 1,200 square feet.
I think it's going to work! I just had a 3 day open sew retreat with 10 in attendance and it seemed to work - even with the social distancing. I could probably put in more more stations but for now, I will stick with 10, maybe 11.There is great lighting, heating and air conditioning. The break room is much larger and now includes an oven and an ice maker!
I now feel confident in offering a new class schedule with more open sew sessions as that is what people seem to want the most! There are the one day sessions, Saturday sessions and now 3 day sessions. Of course, there will be mystery classes and I have 4 samplers I want to share with you!Another feature may be that if you have a small group that is looking for a place to meet, you might consider using my facility especially with the social distancing being so critical. Quilters are social creatures and we want to share our craft, but we need to do it safely.
I am hoping to have a Customer Appreciation Day/ Open House. I hope you will come out to check out the new space. Of course, you can stop by just about anytime. I am looking at this space as my new "forever home." As always, I look forward to hearing your comments and suggestions. I appreciate the support so many of you have shown over the years and hope we continue this journey in spite of the obstacles we are facing. Where there is a will, there is a way!
Take care and stay safe!
